Is MotoGuzzi 1100 sport any good for a new rider? |
I've just passed my bike test and like the look of the guzzi 1100 sport but my mate reckons they are very unreliable and overweight.I know they ain't as good as latest jap bikes but how good/bad are they? Modern Guzzis are actually pretty good bikes. The older ones did have problems with their electrical systems and the build quality was a bit poor - I know, I owned 4 four the cantankerous beasts! However, they are very quirky and do not ride like most other bikes. The transverse V-twin can make them torque steer at low speeds, and the hefty Cardan shaft final drive can catch out unwary riders when slowing down quickly (it can cause backlash through the transmission). The V1100 Sport is a great bike and will stand out in a crowd, but it's not really suitable for a new rider with little experience. Having said, that, if you can get a test-drive (never buy a bike without a test-drive...), try one and see. check out this link for comparative analysis.... http://www.motorcycle.com/mo/mcguzzi/110... as a rider of 30 yrs whatever u buy if it's in this league whatever you do TAKE IT EASY for a while coming off at 30 to 60mph is 1 thing coming off at 80 to 90 + is murder PLS believe that I survived 1 biggie and it was 3 weeks after my licence took me 6months to recover my m8 on another bike was not so lucky that was enough for me I took it easy for a while, too many I know lost it and their lives in a split second get to know her b 4 you really gun it and then go for it be well Unless the new rider has a death wish I would say definitely NOT at 500 lbs this bike will handle heavey on the turns due to the V engine. However it is a good bike. If your legs are long enough to keep the bike upright on a hill and slope, then ride whatever you want to. lovely bike, but for a new rider may be a bit much there are literally dozens of more suited machines but if you have the confidence do it . one mans dream machine is another mans pig |
