What is a good beginer moutain bike?

I am new to the sport and i ablolutely love it what is a good beginer bike around 300 dollars

A raceable bike for $300? Nope. Not gonna happen unless you buy used.

Let's talk about new bikes here. A $300 bike is meant to look like a mountain bike. But it's geometry puts the rider with more weight distributed on the butt, so the position is more upright. This makes the bike less agile and increases the center of gravity. The suspension is also going to be really cheesy...bad spring rates, and almost no steering precision.

On the other hand, a new $600 bike is made to mimic a $1,500 race bike, but with cheaper frames and components. It will have more aggressive geometry that allows you to turn quicker, handle obstacles, and transfer your power better. It will more evenly distribute the rider's weight between the hands and the butt.

Really, if you're serious enough to race, I'd urge you to spend a bit more money so you don't need to make racing any harder on yourself than it's already going to be. And the playing field is not level, equipment-wise. Even in the beginner classes, you will see lots of $3,000 bikes. And no, I did not add an unneeded zero (I've spent more than my share of time race-prepping these people's bikes while working at shops).

Gary Fisher makes a bike called the Tassajara (AKA Tass) that's a great bike for new riders. I'm sure there are others out there, but the shop I worked at carried Fisher, so it's the brand I'm most familiar with. Raleigh does some good budget bikes, too...check out the M-80.

any bike with an aluminum frame and shimano components not purchased at walmart or target
If you are truly mountain biking off road and on trails, spend the money for lightweight, otherwise, you'lll work your butt off, get frustrated and never ride again.
Avoid wal-mart and any other department stores at all cost. In a bike, the money goes a long way. I started off with a Trek 6500 for under $800. If you have the money - spend it. You probably cant afford Carbon Fiber. Go with aluminum, it's fairly strong, but much lighter and stiffer than steel. The first step is what type, there are many different kinds, but for around $300, all you could get is an XC(ccross country) hardtail. You want good componesnt, preferably shimano, (not suntour) and you want to buy it from a knowledgable bike store. I originally was planning for a $300 bike, but went for a $750. If you are tight on money, ask if the store has any older models in stock. RIght now, '06 and some '05 models are still available, store displays that didn't sell. They can come off much cheaper than new ones. A used bike is also an option, i reccomend the 'Want Ad' Bring a knowledgable friend or do some intensive research. Make a list of features you need (such as lockout for fork) and make sure that if its a used bike, that is isnt too worn or too old. Get a bike with racing geometry, not a comfort bike or even a hybrid. And last but not least, don't let a store manager or a used bike seller talk you into things you don't need or don't want, BE INFORMED.

I reccommend a local bike shop, as they are easier to get repair done at, mine is just down the street and it came with a one year checkover, for adjustments made after breaking it in. (Only neccesary on new bikes)
