Which Bike is Best for A beginner? |
Which one of these style bikes are the best for a beginner rider Honda CBR 600 F / FS / F4i / F Sport / RR ? Or Suzuki GSXR 600? Find a 250 of some description (because you can have them height adjusted to suit), yes they are light but give you just enough power so you don't kill yourself on the 1st ride. but it depends on where you live... VISIT your local licensing/registration office because they will be able to tell you what you can & cannot ride, what needs to be done to obtain the license, when & where you can ride, how fast etc. (or you could call them or try the online area for your licnesing/registration) Also go to the local bike shop & try the bikes in question (you will soon find what feels right & what doesn't) and ASK the salespeople all the questions your are asking here, because they will be able to show you & give the added info (then you can decide if a brand spankin new one is what you want or something 2nd hand that you can find online etc. Finally go for a drive to the local bike hangout on a Saturday or Sunday, and talk to all the motorcyclists about their rides; they will proudly show off their wares & tell you the pro's & con's as well as give you tips on do's & don'ts Buy the right Gear to Keep you safe (your local bike shopshould have helmets, Jackets, boots, gloves, bags, jrider jeans(/riders pants) plus all the little stickers & add ons you could imagine not to mention all the differnet runs that will be happening) Do all the course that are available for riding safe depending on where you live will depend on the name of those course but most importantly "Stay Upright,Stay Safe & Have Fun" none. all to large/powerful/expensive. Your first bike is to learn to ride on. You will make mistakes. You will drop it in parking lots. You will break mirrors, bodywork, etc. AFTER you take the MSF class msf-usa.org you should buy a learner bike. I recommend the Ninja 250. inexpensive, 100mph if you need it, and you will learn to really ride. Plan on 6 months of riding and practice. then sell it for 2/3 what you paid for it, and buy a bigger bike. Also consider the SV-650 in your list of (hopefully) second bikes. bmx Used Honda Rebel 250. You're going to keep it for only six or seven months before selling it and buying your gixxer or CBR600. The idea is that you get over your initial motorcycle fever on something that's not going to kill you outright. None of these! Get something used, or at least last years model. Something cheep for your first bike. You will drop it, even if you never crash. I picked a Honda for my first new bike because they have replacement parts at great prices. I only dropped that bike once (head cold, forgot to put the kickstand down). The only crash, I got hit, bike was totaled. You can never trust the other drivers on the road. You are invisible to all except the radar (even if they tell you radar can't see you; it can). choosing a bike is a very personnel thing dont take anyones advice on this one it all depends on which one you feel happy with. believe me you will know straight away. by the way i ride a yamaha fazer 1000. happy hunting. Of all those, CBR 600 F4i. Not too aggressive riding position, fuel injected. Really all are awful choices for a "beginning" rider though. You stand a great chance dying on those in short order. Get to an MSF class, then get a 250cc and learn for a year. |
