Harely-davidson and motorcycle help? |
Ok, I'll spill it. I just got a job at a motorcycle shop selling bikes. I can sale the crap out of anything, but the only thing I have riden are old ('85 and '79 metric bikes) and I have no clue what the hell I'm doing. I don't know the differance between a Fatboy and a SuperGlide. Some of the other bikes I can figure out like Honda Shadow and some sport bikes. Can some tell me about a sight that will tell the differance between the Harleys and maybe some info on the others? Lined up in order of models available 1. Sportster several differenrt models to choose from 1200cc or 883 all of the following have same motor, different body parts 2. Dyna ( you can see the shocks near passenger seat) several models to choose from all 1550 cc (or close 96") 3. Soft tail ( You can not see rear shocks they are under bike and operate between swingarm and chassis) same motor many different styles available including the FatBoy 4. Touring Models Road King-- ElectriGlide Standard--Classic and Ultra Classic \ 5 V-Rod Harleys answer to crotch rockets different from all the above Read up good luck on the job Dude, how the hell did you get the job???? There's also a lot of books that are good for getting familiar with the different models. The Encyclopedia of Harley Davidson by Peter Henshaw & Ian Kerr is a very good one. And of course, you could go to the Harley Dealer and talk to some of the sales people there. Congrats on the new job. Ride safe Go to work early, grab a mechanic and let him give you a crash course on what you have in the show room and show you how to tell the difference. Another way would be to get a brochure from work and read it. That's a start. Half the people that are buying Harley's right now don't know any more than you do. The ones that do will just want to know what kind of deal you'll give because they already know what and why they are buying. |
