I am going to buy my first motorcycle soon? |
i want a sports bike like a ninja. i have been advised to go no higher than 600cc. what are some other good bikes to consider (used) besides a ninja? also, any "beginner" tips are appriceated I hope you'll take some good advice from a biker whose been riding 34 years. Don't buy a speed bike until you have some good experience. 75% of motorcycle deaths are from having not enough experience. (speed kills) Get a 400 or 500 street bike. After you become sure of yourself, (Confident, ) Then get the other type. Please keep in mind. Drivers do not look for you and don't see you until it's too late. By the way, a KZ 900 (yeah it's a ninja) can do 200 mph in seconds. ( Instant death for the non experienced) Besides, the 500 ninja is plenty fast in it's own rite. Source(s): Been riding 34 years. Ps loud pipes save lives Honda cbr600 suzuki gsxr 600 yamaha r6 If you are under 25 stay away from the bikes with an R in the name LIKE THE ONES ABOVE are your insurance will be high and if you havent taken the motorcycle riding class do so dont forget your helmet b/c you WILL LAY YOUR FIRST BIKE DOWN www.cycletrader.com A older (much older-like a 95 or 97) 600 is fine. But newer 600 are pusher 100+ hp and can top at 160 or 170. Not good beginner bikes. I would recommend a second hand (for the first year or two) suzuki sv650 or ducati monster 600 or 750. All three are relatively inexpensive second hand on craigslist or ebaymotors. All three are less that 100 hp and are still pretty exciting rides (can take any of these to the track). You can sell any of these the following year or years with minimal loss in intial investment. Good luck with your purchase-just remeber, don't let someone talk you into too much bike. You WILL run out of talent. Ps-have you taken a msf course? If not-take one!
