Is a 650cc ninja too much for a beginner?

i am 6'1 and weight 200lbs. im getting my license in july. im not to sure of what bike to get. i want a sports bike. i like the 650 ninja is that to big for me. any help at all will be appreciated.
o yea, im 17

lots of bad advice around here. someone your size wont enjoy a 250, period. your ninja 650r will not go near 160mph, but will be plenty fast to have fun on. as long as you respect your own skill level you can learn on anything that isnt too heavy for you to handle. kids wreck their 1000cc superbikes because they go too fast too quickly, and they cant turn or stop. but remember the throttle in your right hand goes both ways! take an MSF course and keep the rubber side down!
no my neighbor has one and he is just learning on it he is about ur size too he loves it

A 250 is more suitable for a beginner. Why would you want to put that much money into a bike when you don't know how to ride it? On top of that, a sport bike will be more suitable for you when you are at least 25 years old.

Insurance on that bike at your age is going to be astronomincal. We have a Honda CBR600. With a spotless driving record, insurance is still $70 per month for a 37 year old male. At 17, you can count on the insurance being three times that amount.

Don't be a squid. Wear a helmet at all times.
It's big for a beginner.

You might be OK, or you might screw up the clutch or throttle in a turn or stop or coming off a red light and wipe out. Maybe you'll just wind it up to 120 for fun and then realize there's a car in front of you, brake too hard, and crush your spine into fine powder landing face first.

A 250 is more forgiving of screwing around with power and brakes than a 650. All it takes is one mistake...
Yes, that's a bit much, we're talking 160 top speed, 0-60 in 3 sec. or slightly under, get a ninja 250 or 500 and get some valuable experience...then opt for the bigger bike.
depends on the rider, if you know your limitations and can control yourself it isnt but if you let it get out of hand on you it will kill you
