Looking to by my first motorbike?

need some opinions, mostly short city trips with a few holiday trips,is a harley all of what they say.what do you think about sport bikes,is ther a big bang for price difference.

Buy what you can afford if you like long trips go with a cruiser much more comfortable. The Suzuki is nice but if you not sure if you going to keep the bike you got to look at the resale on it. A Harley more expensive but holds its value better than any other bike. Bought a Harley softail as my first bike loved it an still own it to this day
If you have your license then I recommend that you go to the local dealership and test drive the bikes. That's the best way to see how it feels, if its comfortable, and if you like it.
Look at a Suzuki C50 Boulevard, Looks similar to a Harley Fat Boy, Has a fuel injected 805cc engine with plenty of power yet good gas mileage, is a very beautiful bike, costs only $6799 brand new off the showroom floor, has tons of accessories available, and is still pretty lightweight and very simple to ride. I rode a little 200cc enduro for years, and this isn't much more difficult. Easy beginner bike, but one that a seasoned rider can still enjoy for years. I researched for 2 months before buying mine and am very very satisfied. By far, the best bang for the buck. With the fuel injection, puts out as much power as many bigger bikes!!!! Keeps right up with big Harley's (although, I only weigh 155 pounds). Great Bike Looks and ride!!
For holiday trips theres nothing better than a cruser... A Suzuki VS 1400 Intruder, Sounds almost like a harley, at half the price..

It has a Car like sitting position, nice crusing speed with lots of power when needed..
go for a make you like. buy the biggest engine size you can afford. you will get use to your bike really quickly and the last thing you need is a small motor not delivering what you need
your asking about a wide veriety when it comes to sports bikes or harleys the first thing you want to think about is what kind of bike you really want there is a huge difference between riding comfort position on the bike speed. i bought my first bike last year and i got a sports bike kawasaki zzr600 i always knew i wanted a sports bike and i love it i mainly use it for transportation. don't get me wrong i cruse too but in texas i can ride it for 8-9 months a year so it really helps on cost when it comes to gas prices.
what it really comes down to is do you want to pay that huge price tag for a harley i wouldn't. the lenght of your trip doesn't matter if your in the city a long road trip would be less comfortable on a sports bike for sure just because the way you sit on the bike but if you have never owned a bike its just not something you think about especially if your riding with friends.
i suggest shop around go to a couple of dealerships look at some bikes and narrow it down a little then ask more specific questions
I love my Kawasaki Ninja 650R. It's an entry level sportbike and very easy to learn, very forgiving. But I'd highly recommend taking a motorcycle driving class. They'll teach you things rather than you learning the hard way. I know.
