Aprilia RS125 2006?

Aprilia RS125 2006

Comments on this sports bike? I'm considering buying one. Is it really as fast as it boasts to be?

Yes it's pretty fast as long as you don't have the restricted version (it's restricted to 12 bhp) as available in the UK.
I'd have a Yamaha! But as mentioned they are restricted in the UK.
Yeah nice bike and handle lovely, the cornering speed is something else, just be prepared for lots of maintenance as it's a 2-stroke and the engines don't last as long as a four-stroke and will need re-building every 5000 miles or so especially if you ride hard. A friend of mine bought one of these and was very happy. Handles well on the road and has a v-twin four stroke engine.

Might be worth a test ride

Go on 125ccsportsbikes.com and read the aprillia forum <- lots of reviews/ tech tips

i did have a 1999 rs125.. now have a zxr400 :D
The rs 125 is a stonking wee bike! good for nearly 100mph IN RESTRICTED FORM! yes thats right it is restricted by a rev limiter but you can overcome this without any modifications ,all you have to do is drive along until the bike hits the limiter and instead of changing up a gear change down this will put the engine above the limiter cut off and as long as you keep the bike singing in this rev range it will fly, I cant remember what the limiter is set at but I have driven one of my mates and it was a scream, perfect handling and plod friendly if you get pulled, I drive a 1000cc sports bike and would be more than happy to have one as a second bike
Yeah, the Aprilia is as good as the hype says it is, haven't had a go on an 06 model, but i've had a go on the 05, and they do grip the road like glue. You get the feel of a superbike riding these, as you ride very low, so over long journeys, you're back won't be too pleased with you.
You will pay the premium when it comes to insurance, as you are pretty much saying "i want to ride as fast as i can". So be prepared, also, parts are damned expensive, a friend of mine paid 拢130+ for a full lock set, ignition, and tank.
So, if you are willing to pay the price to ride in style, and have shed loads of fun doing it, then there is almost no better bike.

That being said, and this is really bizarre, but today, i had a go on a friends new Hyosung GT 125R, he asked me to open it up, and see what it can do, i'm not the lighest of guys, and naturally, it is no longer restricted to 12bhp, forget what kiddy said about rev limiters, as i have NEVER seen this on ANY bike, the restricter is designed to lower the outputted BHP, not the max revs.
This bike goes like sh!t off a shovel, and handles just as well, if not better then the Aprilia, and you dont have to lean down so far, they are both about the same price new, and both are a nightmare for parts, both in finding them used, or handing over the cash new.

The biggest factor i can see between these two bikes is Insurance, Hyosung is still a resonably new company, so they tend to be a little more expensive to insure, and not all companies will insure them.
