Influencing other's to cycle....have you ever?

Since I got into cycling (earlier this year) I've found that it's been having a knock-on effect with other people. My husbands got a new bike & joined in with me, my Daughter & her partner have also.....now just this week, my uncle-in-law has ordered a new bike & his little girl has gotten hers out of the shed & dusted it down to go out cycling too.....on seeing all the fun that we've been having as a group my husbands cousin & boyfriend have now borrowed a couple of bikes until they get their own, so they could join in as well.

Have you found that by cycling yourself - you've had an influence on other people to also get on their bikes or even go out & purchase a new bike in order to take up this great passtime/sport?
If you have, who was it?

Hope you don't mind me asking, just that I'm stuck at home (again) today waiting for a trailer to be delivered, so when I'm babysitting my grandson next - I can just plonk him in the back & still get out there cycling.
The things we do eh?

I've ridden the California AIDS Lifecycle ride 5 times (544 miles, SF to LA), lots and lots of centuries, bike to work once a week .... but what I'm most proud of is that 4 people in my office now ride to work, my sister and her family got into cycling, brother and sister in law .... yeah, once they see you having fun, loosing weight, feeling great and looking younger by the day they want it too. I've certainly persuaded a number of friends to dust off their old bikes or buy new ones over the years! I am itching to get out on mine (especially if the sun ever comes out!) but annoyingly I tore my calf muscle three weeks ago and the doc advises not cycling until at least six weeks after the tear. I have a Dawes Galaxy which I bought in 1998 and despite me not caring for it, is almost as good as the day I bought it!
I passed my cycling profeciency with flying colours when I was 12, I loved my bike, But would not go on a bike these days, I passed my driving test 7 years ago, since then bikes have been the bain of my life, they wobble all over the road, right in front of me,, they ride side by side thinking they can , but myself I would not go on a bike too many cars about, too many roads in bad condition, Happy Cycling though.
No, people tell me flat out to stay out of their way while the grown-ups drive.
ive cycled seriously rather than just messing around since i was 18 and i find that true cycling is in the blood. in other words, unless someone really really wants to do it, they wont stick at it when they find you need to have true commitment. im not talking about going to the local park on on a short ride on a sunday im talking 10,000 miles year. most of my cycling mates were cycling active b4 me
Yes, and keep doing it by trying to become a example as I cycle on the roads and street as I go to work, commute due to errands, or just ride for fun.

This, is the best way to keep my cycling safe and sensible, and get the most out of it too. Keeps my mind on the right track and my body fit and healthy.
