Anybody got a Ducati S2r 800? Im thinking about buying one?

Now before anybody jumps on the 'anti Ducati' bandwagon can we get something clear, i AM NOT going to be doing thousands of miles a year, i wont be comuting to work on a bike as i have a company car, this is going to be a bike to get me back into riding as i did when i was 17 - 20 (now 29), to use as MY toy/fun bike on weekends when the sun is shining and ive spent all week driving up and down the bloody M1 in a car! I love ducatis, i love the sound/style of Ducatis and always have, only thing is i now know i have to do the Direct access course and get a bike that will suit me, put a smile on my face and be great for the sunny weekends i look forward too. Was going to go for the 749 but since seeing the new style S2R monster in red/white stripe im now thinking my dip back into the biking scene may be slightly more comfortable/safe going the monster route first.....can always get a focused sport later maybe!!! Oh im 6 FT 3" by the way, dont think that matters but all theories welcome

well, if your interested in motorcycles, you might wanna wait for the next product because latest models are hotter!!
Well, go for a test ride and see first-hand how well you like it. I would also compare it with other makes as well to give you the best opportunity to make a well rounded and informed decision.

For example, have you considered a Triumph?

I ride a 2005 S2R Monster. I also had a 600 Ninja and a 62 Ironhead Sportster., when I bought the Ducati. Since getting the Monster, I have sold the Ninja, and rarely ride the Harley. I love it, and so does my girlfriend. Sure it 's no Supersport , but it just as much fun as the Kawi, and much cooler. I really have no use for the Harley now. Just keeping it because it's all original, and only 4000 miles on it.

I'm 6 feet tall and the Monster fits great, it's good for about 3 hours of riding without a break, but the fuel tank won't last that long. The bike is a little too quiet, get some pipes for it, also it is geared too high for city traffic, and would benefit from 1 tooth off the front sprocket. I've made a few changes to it, but all in all love the bike. Insurance is cheaper than the S4r, but still some companies stay away from Duc's altogether. - So check first. The one thing I really like about the bike is that it can ride with anyone, on the Monster. It'll keep up with the Supersports, and looks at home with the Buell and Harley guys. You really don't need to make any excuses for the bike as, it speaks for itself. I mean - single-sided swing arm, Desmo power, good braking / handing, and that beautiful exhaust note.....all in a sexy package.

Go for it. But get the 1000.
A friend of mine has one and it's a great bike - FAST.
I have a H-D and the first thing I do when riding with him is ask to trade bikes for the ride. Ride On !!!
Hi,

I've owned a 600 Ninja a ZX10 and a Harley FXR and my S2R 800 is all of them wrapped in one.
I agree that it was too nice and quiet (good if you like to leave on early morning rides) so I put ARROW carbon fiber full pipes, the bike sounds insane and has even more power.
I have had the bike for over a year and have just broken 1000 miles on the odometer, So not everyone has the time to ride all the time, though I wish I did.
It's a quick, great handling bike and does look great.
I recommend the bike highly and chose it over a 749.
I am 6'1" and with no problem and like the low center of gravity. Also you can adjust the ride height if need be.

Good luck and happy riding!!
