Where can I find an exhaust system for a Civic that isn't a raspy fart can? |
I have a 93 Civic coupe and will be upgrading it immensely. I'm not a newby to the sport, so please, no remarks like "find something worth putting money into" and things like that. There are reasons I like Honda. I have a CRX that I swapped an engine into and upgraded several components on, and it has served me quite well all-aorund. The problem I face is this: I try searching for an exhaust system and all I get are the loud fireball type mufflers. I know some are louder than others, but when it comes down to it, almost all sound like a bike when at full throttle. I want an exhaust system that has more of a hum to it, but still gives performance. Think European style, if you will. The sound of a BMW or some other mild sports car...is my only option to fully customize through a shop? or can I buy a performance kit that won't draw attention from a mile away while racing at 2 or 3am? remus seems to do well although they are not stock quiet, they have alowere note than what you are talking about. i have dynomax on my audi and it doesnt sound like hell. You could also try getting a stainless muffler from a junkyard from something that has bigger motor. dodge duster turbos were stainless. saturns are stainless. maybe a muffler from a nice 6cyl. bmw. justa thought Source(s): mechanic for 8 years Mugen is the best.They offer a reverse-back pressure muffler that sounds nice and low and is top quality...kinda pricey though. I have a magnaflow system on my GTI VR6 that isn't too loud, and sounds agressive. I checked Magnaflow's site and they don't make a system for your year Civic, but you might be able to retrofit a newer system onto it without too much problem. They also have soundclips on their site which should help you to decide. Also, European manufacturer Jetex is known to make quiet exhausts that produce good numbers. I haven't heard their exhaust in person though. They do make a sytem for your application. I'm not sure if you can find a dealer in the US that stocks your system.
