Help with this one if your able, hopefully some good ideas.??? |
My son was 3yrs when he contacted Diabetes? He's now in his early 30s. He raced Motor Bikes at 12yrs for 9yrs. Loves motor sport, stopped because of the financial side ot it. (unable to continue) Until now. Has bought himself a Go-Cart and today is going for his 1st practice. I have persisted on him wearing a Medical Bracelet, as he can be rather eratic and gets very tired of late. Also he has had very limited fitness preparation. As a matter of fact not much of anything at all to do with keeping fit. I bought another bracelet and a necklet for the ol boy to wear but haven't seen him where either. I have always believed one should where some identification on there person incase of accidents etc. Stubborness of the most proverbial is his name. It's down right annoying and also dam dangerous. Now he wants to go back to racing and the only people who know that he is a diabetic are his friends. But not all have the opportunity to go to some of these venues when able. I hope I don't sound harsh. Mom, he's in his early thirties. He is not stupid. He knows what he should be doing. He is choosing NOT to do it. There is nothing you can do about it. I know it makes no logical sense. But some of us with chronic illnesses that we've had since childhood get worn out from thinking about them. He feels healthy right now. We both know he's not. And I'm sorry to say this, but he's probably going to have an episode. It's cruel of him, I know. But there's nothing you can do but pray. Nagging won't help. I say limit yourself to two comments/year. Make them on a calendar. Honestly, if you bring it up all the time, it's just going to drive him away. He won't answer the phone when he knows its you because he'll be afraid that you're going to nag him again. God bless you for loving him so much! I'm sorry he's being such a baby about it. He's just going to have to learn this one the hard way, if at all. Tell um to tattoo it on his inner wrist. |
