I'm looking for a starter motorcycle, what do you think about the Tank line of motorcycles? |
I've posted a question about Tanks already, just asking about they're quality. I got lots of answers, but they all sounded like answers from people who assumed that I have been riding for awhile. Their answers were to stay away from it because it has low power and they are hard to find replacement parts for. I am a beginner rider looking for a cheap, low power bike. The dealer in town where I'd be buying it from sells Tank motorcycles and scooters and does all the repair work for cheap. Okay, now based off the information that I'd have a place for cheap repair work if needed and I am a beginner rider...would a Tank Vision 250E be a good motorcycle for me to have for about a year or so? http://www.tank-sports.com/products/visi... You won't be a beginner rider for very long. The problem with getting an off brand bike is reselling it when you want something better. Believe me, after you get comfortable riding, you will want something better than a low powered Tank bike. Get a bike you will be comfortable with and one you can see yourself riding, I prefer Harley's. If you are worried about the size of a "Big Hog" get a Sportster to start out with. It is a great bike and you will be proud to ride it for years. When you graduate to a bigger bike, it will also be easer to resell. Good Luck and happy riding!!! I agree with FJM that the off-brand may be a bad idea due to re-sell.. If you are still intimidated by a Harley, the Honda Rebel may be a good choice for a beginner. It's a 250cc single cylinder air cooled light weight bike. It is very reliable and cheap to start out on. I'm sure it would re-sell better as well. I wouldn't bother with one of these. Both the Chinese and Taiwanese motorcycles are little more than tarted up scooters, they carry the same engine and CVT transmission in a motorcycle style body. You'd be better off with a small bike from a real bike company, but if you really want something like this, consider one of the better quality brands from Taiwan such as Sym or Kymco, or CPI (not sure where that one's from). |
