What are some activities to keep a 9 year old boy occupied? |
My son is severely ADHD and has just about every disorder under the sun. It is hard to even make a trip to Wal-Mart with him. He usually runs around with his older brother (he's 11) but he is working this month with my boyfriend. My 9 year old is terribly bored and I need ideas of how to entertain him. Most "activities" just cause stress on both of us. He loves animals and all outdoor activites. We took a trip to petco today and hung out with some of the animals. Sports and strenuous activites are out for the time because when he was riding his bike last week he got too close to the car and cut his foot on the license plate. He just got off crutches yesterday and still has 11 stitches in his foot. Help! WE are going insane! If he likes animals, maybe you could see if you could have him help at a local animal shelter? In my city, our animal shelter has a program where you can come in with your child, and keep the animals company. So while he's still healing from the accident, he could play with cats or rabbits, and when he gets better, he could maybe try dog-walking? Source(s): Me and my buddies at the shelter. :D Introduce him to baking, that could be fun. Like have him help making a batch of cupcakes or cookies. When his foot gets better, go to a state park and go on a nature hike, they usually have naturalist programs there where they have activities for park guests and they are free and park admission is only like $2. The zoo is also good since you say he likes animals. Research around your area to see what programs are going on =) u should buy him a dog or rescue one for him from the animal shelter ...it will keep an eye on him and keep him busy..or just buy him some video games thats what kept me busy when i was 9 legos...my best friends bro was about 9 when we gave him legos. he used to be a wild and unproductive but we gave him legos and he became a master at building. he moved on from basic legos to the motorized ones, and custom structures, then models, mini cars with engines then real cars and now that he is turning 18 and wants to open his own custom car garage. |
