Can I apply sports massage to myself?

A question that has puzzled me for some time. I'm a guy who loves to go out riding my race bike. Unfortunately I am as all other cyclists susceptible to the build up of lactic acid which stops me from training every day. I've tried a few lactic acid reducing products only to find that they have some pretty bad side effects like cramps. And I am not doing well enough to be able to afford a person to massage me like the professionals do. That's what started me wondering if there are any massage techniques that I could apply to myself that would allow me to recuperate faster and help me train more.

There are many books on massage you can get. Massagewarehouse.com has a good selection of books so does Barnes and Noble. I am a massage therapist and would tell you also you may be able to find a massage therapist to trade services like if I have a lady that cleans my house in turn I give her massage weekly and no ,money changes hands but we both get something we need.
you can do the areas yourself that you can reach=if you got a girl friend, talk her into doing it as well as the spots you can,t reach
