Christians: do you think its ok to participate in sports on saturday? |
i have a bike race on a saturday coming up soon. im seventh day adventist and my parents wont allow me to participate. i really want to though. if i pay for everything in advance, would that change anything? what do you think about this? different denominations have different 'rules' and if your parents are saying no, then unfortunately you should obey them. You need to search out what you should/shouldnt do based on the bible. Jesus set us free from the bondage of 'religions' ... but you should still respect your parents' wishes while you live in their home.... once you are out on your own, you can choose a different church with less restrictions.... God will guide you on what you can/ cannot do on days.... til then... have patience and honor your parents If your parents say no, then no it is. Of curse is right, the Saturday was made for the people, not people for the Saturday. My wife is Adventist and she understant that Jesus said that the Saturday was made for the peolple and not the people for the Satuday. Jesus is the Sabbath if you pay for everything in advance? that will apparently just mean that you will be a) defying your parents (and their religious teachings) and participating in the race on your sabbath or b) willing to waste your money on a race you will not participate in. ultimately, the decision is yours, since most judeao-christian religions teach that g-d gave man free will. Your parents are horrible people for forcing their religion on you, but there's probably not a lot you can do about it. |
