Activities in Goa? |
We are 4 couples going to Goa in the 1st week of October. We need to know what activities are there in Goa: Adventure Sports mainly. Which companies provide these at reasonable prices? What are the rates of hiring a self drive car or bikes and where to get them from ? Which are the best nightclubs? We have already booked a hotel in Calangute for 3 nights. Which other hotel shall we book and at which beach for 3 more nights ? Hiya, Water sports such as parasailing, jet skiing and windsurfing are available on the beaches of Candolim, Calangute, Baga and Colva. You can try paragliding at Arambol and Anjuna. Althoughthe waters off Goa aren't crystal clear, there are scuba-diving outfits offering boat dives and PADI (Proffessional Association of Diving Instructors) courses: the very professional Barracuda Diving isbased at the Goa Marriot Resort in Miramar. Goa Diving is in Bogmalo and Goa Dive Centre is in Baga. Boat trips to spot dolhins, go fishing or cruise the backwaters are also available from most beaches, including Arambol and Palolem. The boat owners will probably find you! Another interesting activity is a trip to the spice plantations mear Ponda where you get a tour and lunch for 300 rupees/拢3.50/$7. You can go by yourself but its better with a guide. One of the best tour operators is: Daytripper Tel: 2276726 www.daytrippergoa.com based in Calangute - It also offers RAFTING in Karnataka! You can rent mopeds easily. It costs about 拢2.50/$5 a day if you get it for just one day but you can usually get them down to about 拢1/$2 a day if you are getting it for more than a week. Petrol is about 40p/$0.80 a litre. You can rent a moped from many hotels and if they don't have any there they will be able to sort it out. But its a much better and more independant way of travelling than tuk tuks (which will get boring after the intial excitement). And you wont have to haggle all day long to get places! Palolem is the best beach resort. It has the nicest beach in Goa and also lots of things to do during the day and at night. It has a sweeping crescent of white sand fringed with coconut palms and is a postcard picture. It has a late night market which is really good and is by lots of bars so you can go for a drink after - there are also lots of places to go clubbing here Hotels: Budget - Palolem Beach Resort (highly recommended) Tents (350 rupees/拢3.75/$7) Cottage for 2 (600 rupees/拢7/$14) Just up from the beach this place offers spacious tents (October- April) or your own little cottage/apartment. Rooms all have Tv and are clean and have telephones. Midrange- Ciaran's Camp (Huts and Double rooms with air conditioning ranging from 1000 rupees/拢12.50/$25 to 2000 rupees/拢25/$50) Every year this camp imporves and now its about as luxurious as you could expect in Goa. It has excellent huts with private bathrooms, one of the best restaurants and bars on the beach and a stylish boutique. Rooms also have Tv. Top end: Intercontinental the Grand Resort - (internet access, air conditioning and swimming pool) A double room here including breakfast is $200/拢100. This is Goa's largest resort, with a sprinkling of colonial portugese style and a golf course, a spa, and 6 restaurants. Room rate includes a transfer from Goa Airport. Non guests can use the amazing pool here for 500 rupess/拢6/$12 a day. Anyway i hope this helps and have a great time! :-) Call your hotel and talk to them. Call the tourist office.
