What's a good quality, naked, >500cc sports tourer? |
I don't want to spend more than 10 grand, so I guess second hand is the only way to go. However I've only been into bikes for a year and don't know anything about older models. I agree tottally with the VFR I had an older one and a 2004 fantastic bike fast and comfy I could out distance my harley driving brother any day and once rode it to from Boise to San Diego in about 24 hours including a little sleep and rest stops I have been looking at naked bikes as well for my daily driver when i go back to san diego in a few months but the wind forces at freeway speeds would get old compared to the bikes with fairings the yama fz1 or fz6 are naked with little wind screens and the bandit would be good too i just love the no wind screen look of the honda 919 and ducati monster if you still want naked look at the ducati monster 600 cc is much cheaper like 6k where the larger sizes are like 8k or 12k have fun rubber side down almost all bikes these days are good , stick to the major manufactures,Suzuki bandits are good and buy as new as possible, 10 grand should get a real good bike. go to www.bikepoint.com.au and have a look. the best sport touring bike would be the vfr800 it has won this category for 10-15 years running most 500 would be too small for a sport touring bike and most do not have enough wind protection to be a long distance runner. take a long look at the vfr its a v4 engine with gear driven cams and its bullet proof there are plenty of them around google them look at sportrider.com for a write up |
