i have been riding motorcycles for 50 years ...
when buying a scooter check when and where you will ride
50cc slow streets posted 35
150cc small towns to small city speeds under 50 mph
250cc and up if used on high speed roads in fact it needs to be 250cc to be used on an interstate in most of the country
i prefer a manual transmisson most scooters are belt
when you find one you like.always ask how much is the belt and
how much does it cost to replace it . find owners with that model and ask about belt life
and you will very quickly see why i like manual transmissons....
try to get 12 inch+ wheels.. disk brakes are ok but if winter use on sloppy wet roads is in the plan drum brakes are a plus as the slop gets in the disk brakes and freezes and a wrecker hauls you home
(been there done that) rain suit and windshield are a must .....
my 2 favs are bajaj 150cc manual trans and the KYMCO People 250 big enough for long range use 16 inch wheel and watercooled 4 cycle
