now he can not remember how the spacers go can anyone help I sort of agree with Guardrailjim, but I've also had situations where I've had something apart for awhile, and just can't remember which end is 'up' on a widget.
Most of the time though, you can actually look at the parts, and their wear patterns will tell a story of how they all fit together.
Look for wear marks on the hub, then look for corresponding marks on the spacers. If this doesn't help, and it's just a couple of spacers, then try it both ways.
Another option is to check the exploded diagram online here http://www.yamahaoftroy.com/fiche_select... although drawings aren't absolutely specific (no measurements, etc. like you'd have in a shop manual), they're sometimes enough to get you moving in the right direction. I am not familiar with that machine. However there can only be a few assembly combinations, just try to put it on. Before (and after) you tighten the axle nut check to make sure everything is lined up and nothing is binding or dragging. If verything is secure and the wheel is turning freely you have probably got it right. Not to insult you or your husband, but If he can't figure out something that simple, he shouldn't be working on it. |
