Why do Wal-Mart customers make such a fuss over electric scooters (riding carts)? |
I'm a college student and I work at Wal-Mart as a cart pusher and the people greeters always are getting yelled at by customers about the scooters. I understand that some people NEED them but there are some people who DO NOT need them. Some stupid fat lady complained after the door greeter explained that they needed to charge up because the battery was low. Rather than sit down to wait, she took things to a whole new level. She complained about the company having so much money to afford all of those buggies (carts) but not have enough scooters. She angrily suggested that we build an area as wide as the cart bay and fill it with just as many scooters as there are shopping carts. What is it with these people? Why are they too damn lazy to walk the store? The buggies are cheaper than the scooters. The buggies cost anywhere from $60-$100, while scooters may cost up to $4,000. More people use buggies anyway, so that's why we have more of those than scooters. What is the problem? Why fuss? The door greeter told me that he was about to say this to the customer: "If you wouldn't get so damn fat, you wouldn't have to complain about having to wait on a scooter. People are too damn lazy to walk." Is it true? they are just plain lazy. over abuse the 'customer is always right' motto. personally, i think pple in america demands too much tolerance and forces others to accept them; which i think is totally absurd. corporations designs/create incredible products that improve or simplify our lives, but we the people abuses it and cant control ourselves. ie: the old 'clap on.' is it so hard to take a few steps and turn the lights off/on? we are just crippling ourselves and letting ourselves lazy and dumb, but demand pple to 'respect' them..pfft.. Anyone who works for or shops at walmart is a traitor to the United States of America and deserves anything they get. It's so sad isn't it; how fat and lazy and obnoxious Americans are getting!!! I agree with you, I saw a young overweight teenager on an electric scooter thing at the grocery store the other day. He had no disabilities or anything, just another lazy ***. Look, this is America. The obese capital of the world. If the lady your referring to is reading this then GOOD! People in this country have it made, get fat... NO PROBLEM just go draw disability! People like that just make themselves look horrible so dont worry. I worked at McDonalds in high school, one day I got so mad that I made a big scene and embarassed this guy to DEATH! He came in everyday and ordered 4 double cheeseburgers dressed like a big mac, so basically he was getting a big mac for a dollar. Well he was so fat I couldnt stand it! He always checked them all to make sure they were right, well one day one of them wasnt. He got all pissy and complained to me that it wasnt dressed like abig mac. OHH MAN! Finally I grabbed it from him and screamed to the backline workers and said... HEY THIS GUY UP HERE NEEDS A DOUBLE CHEESE DRESSED LIKE A BIG MAC, AND HE NEEDS IT NOW CUZ HE LOOKS LIKE HES STARVING! Everyone looked and laughed their hindends off. He came in and asked for Sue, my boss. I got wrote up and suspended for a week LOL!!!!!! people need to go buy weights and treadmills NOT FAST FOOD! Those scooters are fuN! xD i'm not lazy i just like driving them my grandpa and grandma drive them in walmart (they need to) and its fun they mess around jousting and **** haha. they're like kids its hilarious Well to start off...I know how you feel about the electric carts. I push carts for Meijer, I call myself a cart *****, and as a cart ***** I call the electric carts amigos. Keep that in mind...lol. I feel your pain when customers come in the store and complain about not having enough amigos. We get that everyday. We have people that come in that are obese and don't want to walk around the store. Partly because they're lazy and get work out easily, but all that weight on theirs legs, ankles, and feet isn't good for them. That's why so many obese people come into our stores and complain when there are not any amigos available because all of the older citizens have taken them. I have seen the obese people race, yes I said RACE, to get to the amigos before the older people who really need them get to the amigos. If you ask me, the older people that have health problems should get the amigos first, and the obese people should wait. We have amigos die in the middle of our store because the person is too obese and they have a lot of weight in the amigo from the food and themselves. I had to replace this one lady's amigo twice because she had so much weight on the amigos that they would die. When it comes down to it the answer to your question is simple...the greeter was right, people are just too lazy to deal with the fact that they don't really need the amigos when the older people with oxygen tanks, for example, need them. I think that the obese people should learn to live with the fact that since they became a little obese, they are second when it comes to the generations before them. I suppose that getting to ride a free electric scooter is like being able to surf the web in one's jammies.... a comfort. And, unlike the parking spots that require a medical reason to park specially, certified by a doctor, and authorized by the department of motor vehicles, any person can hop on a cart at walmart and do their shopping while sitting down comfortably. I think a lot of overweight people go to walmart because they can ride around comfortably and shop. Being really heavy probably hurts their legs and ankles and they wouldn't be able to walk around that much, but with these scooters they are able to go around the whole store as much as they want. Walmart is the cheapest place to buy groceries so why wouldn't a food-aholic choose to go there and get more for less $$? I would be embarrassed to ride around in one of those scooters unless I was elderly or had a disability that I couldn't control. Having these scooters available isn't helping the overweight exercise at all. Next time a young overweight person complains about not having enough scooters to go around you should ask them why don't they just walk, they are young and the elderly and disabled need the aid of navigating the store. There should be some kind of rule that you can't ride the scooters unless you have a handicap parking permit. America needs to exercise more and cut back on bad food. Our children are growing up with type 2 diabetes more and more and having other health problems due to obesity. Giving scooters to shop in certainly doesn't encourage a healthy exercise regime. Sometimes I find myself questioning whether or not severely obese people need to be using one of those scooters. I know that not all overweight people can help it. Some genuinely have problems that make them unable to exercise or stay on their feet for too long. ok, so how about the woman at my Wal Mart who tried out 3 different scooters and complained that they were too slow.. I'm thinking "you weigh 400 pounds, do you think this thing is gonna do mach 1 around the store??!" |
