Named it Speedy but changed it to Scooter because he does just that if he sees us thru the patio door. Does anyone know anything about them -I will later check it out on the internet but just want your imput if you have had experience or info about them..
Would love to make it a pet but know they are a wild creature so will restrain myself. He has been having handouts for weeks but still runs away though I did get a couple of photos of him when he had his back to me eating the walnuts. (Used to give hiim whole uncracked black walnuts and he stuffed them in each cheek but now we give him the shelled English ones.)
Might have to rethink that come fall so he can store up the whole ones. Any ideas and info will be welcome and thanks for your time and interest in this question. Look up .. "Pine Squirrell" in your research. We have a small guy....call him speedy!....that lives in a Cedar tree near my deck. I put out several unsalted peanuts when he shows up and he carries them off one by one to his tree.....looks a lot like a chipmunk. Interesting question, I just wonder if they can crack a walnut shell. They probably can.:) |
