A friend bought a scooter brand new and its had all sorts of problems, what do we do? |
It's a Tank scooter and all sorts of problems have been going on with it. She's had it less than a month and the whole muffler fell off on the way home. Now its in the shop being repaired and they keep giving her the run-around on when it will be fixed. Since there is no "cooling off" period for buying scooters, she seems to have no legal leg to stand on. What to do? They will not allow it to be returned since there's no "cooling off period"... I think she paid cash for it. It really depends on the laws in your area. Most states have so-called lemon laws for new vehicle purchases. Some may apply to scooters as well. Check with a lawyer in your area. That's what you get when you buy this Chinese junk.... Can it be returned at the store? Return it and get something else. DRAG IT BACK TOTHE STORE AND DEMAND A GODAM REFUND HERE OR PASRK IT AND BUY A BICKCYCLE!! Call better business bureau or if bought with credit card call them. Wazwondring is right. Contact a consumer attorney in your state. Sounds like the lemon law might apply to this scooter. Does the scooter have a warranty? If so then check it and if the scooter is still within the time period then she can take the scooter back. If it doesn't then tell the repair company that if they don't stop giving her the run around on when it will be repaired then she is going to report then to the manager of the shop. If that doesn't work then she can take it right up to the owner of the shop. If after the scooter is repaired it quits working she can directly call the company who made the scooter and see what they can do. If that doesn't work she can always threaten to sue the scooter company and then they they'll probably want to fix it to avoid a lawsuit and legal charges pressed against them. I believe this is still covered with 6 months warranty, bring it back to where you get it and let them check and rectify the problems. If you do it yourself or by any unauthorized mechanic, it will void the warranty and you lose your money. waswondering got it-- check out the lemon laws in your state. if the dealer keeps dragging there feet- seek an atty |
