I bought an electric scooter on eBay, and within the first week of having it, i wrecked the batteries, i think by over-charging them. I think i heard somewhere that it is possible to revive them, by draining them so low that they reverse polarity, it won't be possible to buy new ones either, because buying relacements would cost more than buying a new scooter. If you know anything about this procedure, please let me know, keep in mind that they are 'Sealed Lead Batteries'. They are also two individual batteries, so i guess i don't have to worry about one changing polarity and the other one not, unless there are more than one cell in each. If it helps, the model number on them is CP 1245, and they are 12V 4.5AH each. Thanks. You can replace them for around $25.00. Do not try to mess with them if they are bad turn them in to the place you purchase new from and enjoy scootering. Sealed lead-acid batteries are not that expensive. You can probably get these for $15 each. Trying to recover them yourself could get you killed when the battery explodes. Scooter must have been cheap because you can buy batteries rated @ 12V & 7.2Ah for as little as $25.00 each.
Draining will not cause them to "reverse polarity". When batteries are charged and discharged, there is a chemical change taking place between the sulfuric acid and the lead and sponge lead.
If they will not take a charge, the only hope for them is an "Additive" of sorts that will bring them back to moderate life for a while.
I think it is called something like RENU or ???
