Im thinking about getting a Baja SC50 scooter from pep boys, are they worth it ($799)?

I'm looking at the 49cc scooter pep boys sells. The Baja Motorsports SC50. It is worth it for 799$? http://www.pepboys.com/parts_accessories...

No they aren't. Buy a big four brand Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki. Don't buy a 49cc made by anyone. 125 or bigger, better a 250. You have to be able to keep up with traffic. Have fun.

And who else in the world stocks parts and does repair? Does pep boys even stand behind them? If you are lucky you get what you pay for. Don't do it unless you can afford to write it off in three months.

Check out CRAIGSLIST.ORG, Look for the big city nearest you, look at the prices, I saw a scooter yesterday, a respectable brand though not all that well know (Geely) With 314 miles on it, going used for not much money, he wanted somrthing bigger.

For the price, you get what you pay for. This price is bottom of the barrel for a brand new scooter. Even if you keep for a short time(because its a 49cc)and it breaks down on you. You can sell it for parts and maybe get back half your investment back.
Pep Boys don't service them. But, they should have a local contracted service company that handles warranty repairs.
The rumor mill has it that a number of places are getting with the program and stocking on Chinese replacement parts.

If you do get it. use it as a practice vehicle and temp ride.

If you are old enough to ride on the street look at the Kymco and Hyosung line of motorcycles and scooters. They are well made quality machines that are street legal, and they are just as good but cheaper than Honda and Yamaha ect. They have them from 50 to 650 cc.

Don't do it. They are cheaply built (possibly from China).

I used to own a well built Italian schooter. But eventually all machines break. Mine did and I could not get parts. So eventually I had to abandone it because I could not get $20 part (sprocket).

Good Luck...

With gas prices going to $5.00 you should find a cheaper way to travel, they get 100mpg so even if you have to throw the whole thing away in a couple of years you will still be ahead.

don't waste your money on any of the bike's
that pep boy's sell's they are junk. save your
money and buy a real bike.
