To what extent is my jealousy healthy?

My boyfriend is a Vespa/Scooter/Moped mechanic who LOVES his job and has turned it into a complete lifestyle. I try to be as supportive as I can while having no personal interest in things like: going on rallies, camping trips, parts swap meets; and hanging out with similarly involved friends. He and I used to be more private with our time but now he has come out of his shell a lot with this passion and has dozens of friends calling him every night to go do scooter related stuff. He goes out on these endeavors about 3 to 4 nights a week and seems to talk about it to me and others most of the rest of the time additionally. I have known and trusted him for 7 years so I can at least rule out cheating and stuff like that, but at what point is it fair for me to tell him he's driving me crazy with this stuff?

you should tell him right away. jealously isn't healthy.

i think you have a right to be upset with this behavior. granted it is something he loves, but if he loves you then he should prioritize his time a little better. tell him you would like him to do so, and request that he limit this type of outing to 2 times a week ... and then maybe once a week you can set aside a special time together (like a dinner date) when he cannot talk about those things, but will talk about something that interests you instead. just express your feelings in a rational way. your feelings are definitely not wrong! good luck!

Sounds like his life lacks balance. You don't sound jealous, you sound sensible. I would gently point out to him that he should re-think his priorities. If he still spends more time being a Vespa geek than hanging with you, then let him go. You can do better.

Honesty!! honesty is key!! I do not believe that in your situation it is based on jealousy. In a relationship time spent with one another is not only essential but it is valuable. You should really approach the situation in a fairly calm and gentle manner and tell him how you feel. I think its great that your supportive but their comes a time where you have your emotional needs as well. Let him know that you trust him and support him but that this point you would appreciate it if their was a little more time spend together rather than his hobby.

I'm not good at answering questions like this since i haven't had long time relationship so i can't really say what's healthy and to what extent. If i am home body i don't expect someone to keep me company 24/7 and believe me i know how to keep busy with my own priorities of study. So it depends on guy and how often they enjoy going out and staying home. i can't say but if i was constantly getting dissed then i would have to bglame myself as i chose a relationship with person who is not really interested. So i would say i would have problem if no longer put first, and yes was told that, so if told or changed than i would say that i was deceived and would have to complain.So in other words as long as i know i am the pick of the litter than i am easy going and don't ask a lot of questions if any. Kinda like going out o.k seeya later, and i am content in what ever i am doing. Books books books,read read read i have to, maybe raid the fridge lol
