Im handicap, how should i feel when people buy me a drink when iam at a bar with friends?

i live in a neighborhood that is unique & a "hip" part of town. there are a few bars & a nice restaurants up & down the street i live just off of. i frequent these places a lot bc you dont need to drive & they are so close and convenient.

well, since i go to these places a lot people see me a lot that are also regulars. im in a scooter bc i cant walk real long with out getting tired. i was in a car accident when i was 2 & i have scoliosis & my lef side is weak. everytime i go i seem to have people come up & buy me a beer. i generally say no thats ok i can get my own but they generally insist & get me 1.

for instance i went on sunday afternoon for a gear up 4 st pattys day (irish pub). a girl comes up & asks if she can get me a drink. she gets me a drink, she & i talk for a couple mins & then she goes back to her friends.

i know some have good intent but i feel that some people buy me drinks to make themselves feel better & it kinda makes me feel weird..does this make sense

Write it off as their ignorance, and enjoy your beer.

I can see your point. But also, if they didn't want to, they could just ignore you all together. I would just say thank you, and pocket that money and feel blessed that you saved a couple of dollars.

I understand....but feel flattered, girl if a guy gets you a drink you probably got the goods :]]

if i were u i would just enjoy the nice pint of beer and dont bother with the thinking of why they did it.

I could understand how you feel. But isn't a bad thing. There are still nice people out there. I would much rather accept a drink from someone then be ignored by people or looked down on by people. It's just a nice gesture on there part. If you feel weird about it, accept and return the favor.

First of all, what makes you think people are buying you drinks to feel better about themselves? That's not how it usually goes. People buy drinks for others at the bar to get to know someone better...it's an icebreaker...

Stop feeling sorry for yourself and enjoy the niceties...
