My husbands scooter has been stolen we just relised the MOT is out by 6 wks is the insurance still valid??

My husband has been working away so its just been parked off road - really worried we aren't going to get a penny!!!

Yep..don't worry.
Just claim, the MOT means nothing as it was parked and then stolen off road.

Good luck!

The MOT has nothing to do with insurance.
Your bike was stolen and your insurance covers that.

no if it isnt mot it is not covered sorry

Sorry to hear about that.

It'll make no difference for the theft, don't worry.

The only point where they might quibble if it was involved in an accident & they might try to say it wasn't roadworthy, but that doesn't arise here.

I know the vehicle needs to be taxed to have valid insurance but I don't know about MOT. As the vehicle was off-road you might get away with it, be brave and call the insurance company!

If it wasn't MOT'd they will only offer scrap value of the bike irrespective of its condition. It happened to me!

The fact that there is no MOT does not invalidate the insurance - what may be more pertinent is if your insurance policy had a warranty on it that the scooter was kept in a locked building when not in use - many policies do have such a restriction.

There will be a theft excess on the policy - which will be deducted from the claim settlement - I suggest you read your policy and schedule and find out how much it is.
