Will I get banned from driving if I get 6 points on my provisional license?

I went out on my scooter before my insurance had started. I understand I was at fault but will I lose my license. And does anybody know the average fine for driving without insurance??

If you reach six or more penalty points on your driving licence within two years of passing your first driving test, ie during the probationary period, your driving licence will be revoked.

Oddly, the Act in question makes no mention of a provisional licence. However, 6 or more points on your provisional are going to be transferred to your full licence anyway when you get it, so you'll get it with one hand and lose it with the other!

Let's hope the court is feeling magnanimous. Looks like you'll be pleading guilty, so they will ask you if there's anything you want to say before they pass sentence. Be very polite, be contrite, apologise for your stupidity and for taking up the court's time. They will listen.

Good luck.

average is too little, prison is the best penalty for that crime !!

If you drive without insurance you will get an IN10 conviction. The standard minimum punishment for this is 6 points and a 拢180 fine.

However this can be increased to more severe measures including driving bans.

Driving without insurance is a serious conviction and will have an effect on your insurance premiums. For a young driver this will mean a vast increase in premium and often will result in insurers refusing cover.

With the new legislation regarding new drivers, an IN10 conviction may incur a ban and a forced retake of the driving test.

Best advice? Get yourself a good solicitor to plead your case at magistrates court, if you are pleading guilty, you will have a criminal record which you will have to declare to future employers for 5 years until the conviction is spent.

My mate got fined 拢300 for driving with out insurrance about 12 years ago.

The real sting in the tail is the insurance companies, rightly so take a very dim view of this offence. So your premiums will rocket skywards when you do get your licence back and reapply for insurance - school of hard knocks eh!

If you get 6 points on a provisional you lose it yes. Did you get caught? Surely if you did the copper would have told you what to expect/what not to expect. You're an idiot - it's people like you that make me mad! If you'd hit someone, like ME and you have no insurance... You're a danger and a liability! Next time, if there is a next time just wait til all your docs come through.

You are very likely to get a ban and 拢200 fine for driving without insurance whilst being the holder of a provisional licence.

Quite frankly I hope you get a ban its no more than you deserve.

You deserve to get banned for two years.

No but easier not to get them??!!
Gives the examiner wrong idea when sees them

Do you know why you need insurance when you drive? That's to pay for the damage you may cause to others if you cause an accident. So why were you driving without insurance? Are you rich enough that you could pay for it from your own pocket, even if the bill runs into hundreds of thousands of pounds? Or did you not care? Or did you not think? Driving without insurance if not a small offence, which is why you may well lose your licence if you have too many points on it already, or if you had a provisional or recent licence.

yes you will be banned simple as, even when you pass your test from your test pass date until a year is up if you get 6 points it's an immediate ban.
