Can i add a solar panel to an electric scooter?????? |
the battery set up is 2 12volt batteries comprising of 24volts/2.0 amps... i bought a 1.5 watt solar panel 12vdc volt ouput is 22.5 volts, max ouput 120mA. my question is can i just connect the wires from solar panel directly to the battery??? or do i need to use the ciggarette adapter and add a ciggarette adapter to the scooter??? You could, but to only one battery at a time. I'll repost later w/ detail and how to avoid ruining either the panel or the batteries when I have some time. that would look ugly but yes but expencive The solar panel would not provide enough power to be of significant advantage on your scooter. Watts (power) = Current (amps) x Voltage. 2 amps X 24 volts = 48 watts vs. the 1.5 watts your panel is providing. You can try it, connecting the wires directly, but It probably won't provide enough power. Assuming you are looking to use it to trickle charge your batteries to keep them topped off. No. |
