Value of a 1966 schwinn fleet? |
I have a 1966 Schwinn fleet 26" and I am wondering what is the value on these bikes. It has the schwinn only rim size so normal tires will not work on it. I have heard the bikes with these size tires aren't worth anything because of this. This bike in in poor shape, it is in mechanically sound condition but there are a lot of scratches and rust. It is also missing the tank, rack and fenders. What are these bikes valued at? From a clunker like mine to a very well kept one? The Fleet is not one of the "collectible" Schwinns. It is what was called a "mid weight" bike, as opposed to a balloon tired or lightweight. In that era, practically every Schwinn had special sized tires and that has nothing to do with the value. Collectors understand this and it is part of collecting bikes. Now, that being said, if it has the wrong wheels on it the bike would be worthless. Parts bikes such as the one you describe are available for under $30 to about $50 depending on missing parts, etc and whether it is a mens or womens bike. I recently saw a completely restored model that had an asking price of $400.00... it probably cost them more to restore it than that! Source(s): 27 years in the industry i just saw the same bike in need fo restore going for 950$ Try posting a ad on craigslist and see if you get a reply. My guess is you won't. Sorry. Anything in poor shape is usually worth very little, if anything at all. |
