What mountain bike to get?

I am looking for a mountain bike that has a full suspension, duel disk breaks, ez shift levers and easy to take off tires 鈥?my budget is 300 give or take. I know with the features I want it should be $600 to start and it鈥檚 not that I don鈥檛 have the money鈥?it鈥檚 just that I am not comfortable spending that kind of money on a bicycle right now. I have been looking at the Mongoose Blackcomb and the Schwinn S60 do you have any suggestions around my price range

Your not gonna get a lot of mountain bike for $300. I would suggest adding a little more money, it will go a long way. There can be a big difference between a $300 and $500 bike. It also depends on how you are going to use it. $300 mountain bike being ridden often on dirt trail is going to get thrashed quickly. Good luck.
Well, I would look around at bike shops and see if you could pick up a deal on a '06 model. That is the only way you are going to get a decent bike for that price. I still don't think you will get all the features you are looking for at $300, even on a clearance last year model.

I don't know where you live but a lot of shops have web sites. You can search their site and see what kind of deals they have, the pick up the bike in the store. Good Luck!
For just a bit over 300 you could get the DiamondBack Response, i believe it has all those features.
I saw both of those specific models. Both of those have some potential. Both of those use pretty standard issue bike components. BUT, beware! You can only get them from a department store. IF you do all your own work, you should be O.K. BUT, if not, what are you going to do when something goes wrong? Buyer beware!
For $300, I would like at the Trek 820 or 830. There are Gary Fishers that are comparable as well. I prefer both of these brands to Mongoose or Schwinn because they are exclusively sold by qualified bicycle shops. You are likely to get better ongoing service.
If you really want to ride in trails, forget full suspension and disc brakes for your budget. The suspension damping that you're going to get on those bikes is pretty low end and really won't help you, other than add weight and require more maintenance. Also, the suspension bearings will likely not be rigid and won't give a good ride.

Also, on disc brakes, for that price, you will not get good brakes.

In my opinion, you could do better by raising your budget, or opting for a hardtail with V-Brakes. You will find better bikes at this price with better components. Go to a bike shop, they'll also help you choose from more bikes and will adjust your bike properly. I've seen some department stores bikes with the fork installed backwards.
I don't know where you are from, but here in Vancouver, where I live you could get a cheap mountain bike with that price at sportchek, canadian tire, or sportmart. Here is the link of sportchek's http://www.sportchek.ca/sportchek/do/men... You could see different kind of bikes there with the budget you have. Also it depends on how are you gonna ride it, is it going to be extreme mountain biking or just regular bike trails riding or commuting. It all depends on the usage. Happy browsing ! :)
