Setting a Schwinn Bicycle Speedometer? |
It is a two button model. Seems newer (but is red and not silver) and has something like 12 functions. I recently changed bikes and I need to set that four digit number for my current bike. Does anyone know how? I know it's a bit of math, though in what units of measurement? Thanks for any help!! I found the most accurate way is by putting my valve stem directly over the crack in my garage floor at the six-o'clock position. Then I push my bike so the wheel moves exactly one revolution. I mark that point with a felt tip pen. I then measure from the starting crack to the felt tip pen mark in inches. (If you are already in a metric unit country, you can skip the "inches" part and measure directly in millimeters.) Then I take my measurement and go to a metric conversion website and convert from inches to millimeters. If you need help resetting those numbers, hold down on both buttons for about five seconds. The unit will go blank, then it will flash a default setting, usually something like 2242. This is where you will calibrate your unit. FYI, the way it works is it calculates the wheel's RPM and the calibration number to calculate how fast the bicycle is moving. |
