I have a schwinn le tour bicycle with the serial number SG300412. can anyone tell me the approximate value?

I got it for like 7 bucks at a garage sale. Its made in Chicago and it has this thing on the handlebars that says sakae custom. i have no idea what any of this is, but its an awesome bike and fun to ride. ive seen stuff that looks like my bike get sold for like 500 dollars online, and i just wanted to know how much mine is worth. Also would be helpful if someone could give me approximately what year it was built?

I've got one too! I did some research a while back and the best I could figure is that it's kinda like a junk car that runs, but that nobody would want to restore or really even use except as a junk car.

What's the market for a junk bike? Good question. It can vary. Sometimes on Ebay I see similar bikes go for 50-100 bucks, but sometimes they don't sell at all. It also depends a lot on the condition of the bike. Does it have any rust? Has it been well maintained? Does it need any work?

Your bike in particular, from the serial number, it seems that it was built in 1971. Otherwise, I can't tell anything without seeing a good picture of the bicycle. Based on your information, the bike can be worth anywhere from 20-100 bucks, if you can find someone that is looking for that exact type of bicycle. Here's a couple Ebay auctions that might help you compare your bike. The first one is exactly the same as my Schwinn. The second one is probably similar to what I imagine yours is like.

Well, you got your moneys worth but not much more.

According to the second letter- the year- it was built in 1971 but the first letter makes no sense. This lends me to believe it is later- perhaps 1978 or 1979 as they were wrapping up production in Chicago.

Is there another number stamped on the badge- a 4 digit number?
