Where can I find the value of this bike...?

it's a custom restored 1949 Schwinn B6 Autocycle... more info here --> http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...

I'm just wondering how much it's actually worth (aside from all the custom paint, etc)......?

There is good and bad news for the bike.

The good news is the restorer took the time to hunt down as many original and repro parts as possible. The bad news is the bike is not technically restored since it has incorrect paint and decals.

This means that to achieve full restored value it would have to be repainted and redecaled to original specs... not an easy or cheap task.

So, assuming that the purchaser would want a correct restoration it would be reasonable to deduct from it's value the cost of refinishing. I have seen in the past few years a pile of correctly restored Autocycles in the $2500 range. At the same time, I didn't see any of them sell at that price. A more realistic view of this bike is probably closer to $800 to $1000. To this end I think that the beginning bid is reasonable to a little high.

Subtract from that the cost of refinishing and I think a solid estimate of value would be around $600.

Now, if you want to feel good in helping people around the world and want something in return for your financial assistance then even the "Buy It Now" price isn't so bad.

I don't know outside of mirage, who would know the actual value of the bike. If the charity is not for profit, then what ever you pay for the bike is tax deductible and ends up costing you zero no mater the value.

Well, the "Value" is whatever anyone is willing to pay.

You can do an "Advanced Search" - searching only expired listings on EBay - and see what others have sold for.

I found these:
A frame sold for $225:

Someone tried selling one - asking $50 as a start - and got no buyers:
http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-SCHWINN-BIKE...

You could contact that person and get one to fix up - if you want a project.

An older one - different styling - sold for about 200 bucks.

You can see from the costs of individual parts - how much people might be willing to pay - a tank got 4 bids and sold for more than 200 bucks.

The people selling the one you are looking at - have tried selling it twice at that price - and have not gotten any bids. They originally asked $3000.
