Which bikes are made in China V.S Made in America? |
Which bikes are made in China v.s Made in America? Most bikes that you find in bike shops today are made in Taiwan or China even if they were "designed" in the USA. The only bikes made in the USA are the high end models with high end prices. most brands have thier lower line models built in asia, either korea or china. treks, schwinns, giants are all built in taiwan by a company named kenisis. they also import thier own bikes under many names including motobecan, botteccia usa, dawes and others offered at bikes direct. generally they are built by robots and are very consistant. they arent anything super remarkable, but they arent bad either. the most common complaint i see on them is the paint seems to be soft. in the end, my next bike will be the motobecan grand sprint. it is kenisis built w/ kensis built wheels they market under the veulta brand, but arent made in itally like the real things. mostly 600 parts it is a good value i believe. Unless you're talking about the very top end racing machines from Trek, Waterford, or Cannondale, they're all made offshore. Most bikes are made overseas, except for high end ones. Specially on carbon fiber, sometimes taiwan may have better experience than the states. There are a few companies that make frames in the U.S., and a few companies that assemble bikes in the U.S., but there are NO bikes completely sourced and built in the U.S. |
