Are all road bike wheels universally the same size?

For example I own a Trek Modone 5.2 and I have Bontrager Race Lite wheels on it. But if I upgrade to a Bontrager Race XXX Lite will they have a different size or anything like that??? By the way I have a 52cm bike. Thanks a lot.

No
No, they vary on the make and model of the bike. If you go to a shop that sells the wheels, they almost always have a guide book there that you can look up your bike (the Bontager Race XXX) and it will tell you what kind of tires you can put on it. Or, just ask the sales rep there!
These days the common road bike wheel is 700c(about 28)
There are also 650cthase are good for juniors.
27" 1/4 this one is an old size.
It will depend on the speed of the rear cassett/cluster to determan what wheel you can have. or you will need to change the freehub body.
It sounds like you have upto date gear so dont worry about that .
The upgrade wont be a problem in your case.(just make sure that the wheels are all 700c or 650c!

Wheels are sized by diameter and the tire width. For modern road bikes (excluding some women's and junior bikes), they are always 700C (about 27.5 inches) in diameter. In fact, I've never seen wheels of any other sizes sold. So, chances are the XXX Lite will work just fine on your Madone (so long as the XXX Lites are compatible with the drivetrain on your Madone, which is most likely a Shimano system).

The thing you may need to watch out for is the tire width -- any 700C wheelset can use 700C tires of any width, you just need to make sure that your frame can accomodate wider tires if that's what you want. Usually most wheels come with 23C width tires and most road bikes (including yours) should have enough frame clearance to accomodate up to 28C. Typically, nobody road races on anything wider than 25C (pros use 25C tires only for cobblestone races like Flanders and Paris-Roubaix).
