What is the best road bike wheel for a 300 pound rider? I'm 270 and use a Trek 4900. are you a 300 pound rider if you are really 300 pound rider you do exercise daily so you will decrease your weight so you can ride a bike aditya First of all, you'd need to be on a solid steel frame (not aluminum, not carbon fiber, not composite). The wheel sets that come with these bikes are generally reasonably heavy duty - look for one with a high spoke count and a very good rim. Don't bother with the bladed spokes, or other aero tricks ... except maybe a deep rim. Run your tires at around 90-100 PSI; your weight is too high to safely operate at higher tire pressures. And use ones with a wider tread (25-30 mm) to help distribute your weight better. Always run tubed tires, at least until you drop several pounds (like maybe 75). This gives you a little extra protection against flats and road damage. Personally, I'd be looking at a hybrid designed primarily for commuting at that weight, rather than a true road bike. Mostly because they're built that little bit more robustly than the average road machine. The best bike is a recumbent Trike. There real comfortable since you sit in a seat and peddle out in front of you. a Sun Tadpole Recumbent Trike.. ok...ok...I am (was) 285 and rode everything those guys just said not too. I have a Kinesium Aluminum/ with Carbon Fiber fork and rear triangle with 700 x 23c tires on areo rims. I never had any problems with it. Just for the record, I ride centuries (100 milers) on a regular basis, and crank up hills without any equipment problems. GL and keep it safe. one of the good mountan bikes from cannondale thy were made in USA and will hold up fine to someone who wants to put more on it. no no you need wheels the one's that are double walled and made out of some kind of aluminium that is strong mavic wheeelss should do ya |
