What is the best road bike to ride 200 miles or more a week and WHY? Thank you for your help.? For 200 miles a week go with one of these component sets Ultegra or Dura ace in shimano, chorus or Record in Campagnolo, or Sram force. All these components give excellent wear. If you want value for money Ultegra would be my pick. For a frame, titanium will last the longest, by far and can be the lightest option also.(expensive). Carbon should give a few years service at these sort of distances but can be expensive also. (monocoque frame only don't get a rod frame) Aluminium will last a bit longer than the carbon and will probably be a little heavier. Steel is probably the cheapest option. A good quality steel can be quite competitive on weight. General run of the mill steel are heavy. I don't go for brand chasing as there is none in my opinion that stand out significantly. Assuming that your 200 + miles a week is training I would suggest a medium weight titanium framed bike on ultegra components. This should give you a bike to last for many years and one of the cheapest to maintain. If you want to save a bit more money go the steel or aluminium frame.(keep the carbon for race day) If you riding for competition get a second bike with the higher end gear and as light as you can afford (6.8kg 15lb minimum)Keep it for race day. get a honda, they're the best, or a yamaha. Can't explain why though, but they're good quality. That chick who answered before me is retarded. The best road bike is a difficult question to answer because what is the best for me , may not be the best for you. To put it plainly: The one that properly fits you comfortably is the best road bike to ride. Hi, I'm a former road racer and also a former salesperson at a bike shop. Check out the bikes at your local bike shop. If you're going to be doing recreational riding, you'll want a road bike equipped with Shimano Sora or Tiagra components; if you're going to be doing high-performance sport training, I would recommend you get a bike with at least Shimano 105 or Campagnolo Veloce components. If your riding terrain is relatively flat, you'll only need a bike with a double crankset, but if you're riding with a lot of rolling hills or steep climbs, you'll need a triple crankset. Your shop's salesperson can give you more details. Last but not least, you'll need to be properly fitted to the bike. If I were you I would ask for a fit kit, which costs 50 bucks, but if you're going to be riding 200 miles a week, you'll definitely need this, because a proper fit is essential not only to performance, but also for comfort on long rides. Happy riding! |
