Can I patch a road bike tire? |
It's a Schwinn Varsity 2007 Roadbike. The tires are to be inflated to 100 psi. The hole is in the top of the tire (i.e., not in the sidewall). Can I patch this, or do I need a new tire? Hi- you sure can. you'll need a tire lever, a new tube (or patch kit) and a pump. Ive included two links to help you with directions. one is if you want to replace the innertube: http://ridewrc.com/page.cfm?pageid=59... another is if you want to repair the tube. http://www.utahmountainbiking.com/fix/fl... happy riding! Yes, your tire has a tube. It can be patched with a good quality patch that you'll need to get at a bike shop... don't use the WalMart variety. I would recommend that you relegate any patched tubes to a backup to carry with you, and purchase a new tube for replacement. If you can actually SEE the hole in the tire, then the tire AND tube will need to be replaced, not fixed. 27 years in the industry Yes, the tire has a tube, and if you know how to patch a tube you can do it. |
