All bike stores will fit you on a bike ..... It will take a couple of hours to fit the appropriate bike.....

When I say bike store I do not mean walmart or target I mean a place thats sells only bikes and bike accesories.....

Take your time and get the right bike.... Buy what feels confortable to you.... DO NOT allow them to sell you something you can not afford or one that does not fit well.

The bike I bought was way more confortable than the 2000.00 bike they tried to sell me.... I paid 750.00 for mine... Source(s): Bike rider/triatholete
it depends on a few different things. how experienced are you with riding? the less experience, the smaller bike you should get, smaller bikes are more forgiving. second, how good is your credit? bad credit= small bike, or more money for a down payment. not necessarily a bad thing though, as most dealers will work with you to trade up for a new bike, as your skill and credit are improved. all in all, it really comes down to what you prefer, make sure its comfortable, something you could sit on for hours, because you will want to once you get going. see how you like the height of the seat, angle youll be sitting at while holding the handlebars, and how easy you can operate the controls. going from my experience, my 500 cc will go just as fast as my friends 750's, most of the difference in acceleration with engine size is after you get to 80, which is where the sport bikes really take off. going by your size you should be able to handle a bike from 500 to 750 pretty easily, you want to get a bike you can control, but one that you wont get bored with. if you end up with one you dont like, theres always next year

I am 6 feet and I got a 20inch bike. and it works fine. So maybe a 21 22.
hmmm, what's michael talking about? I'm 5'11" and ride a 58 cm frame. You will probably start with a 62 and then make fine tuning adjustments with stem length and angle, and seat height, angle and forward positions. You can and should make lots of adjustments to get the bike to fit you.
Bike sizes vary minutely depending on the manufacturer, but a good starting point would be between a 60 to 63cm frame. Your local bike shop would be the best bet to get you completely dialed in with your frame, saddle height and stem length. From personal experience Klein frames run a bit big while Trek frames tend to run smaller. I have a 61cm Klein and a 62cm Trek, I am 6' 2" and they both fit perfectly. Good luck with your purchase and welcome to the club. Happy riding.

Well, I just read Overtaxed's comments and he is spot on... I believe my comments are now redundant. Anyway, enjoy your ride.
