Has anyone tried the Hobson ergonomic bike seat or other ergonomic seat - Road Bike use? I just use one of those wide gel-cushioned replacement seats with springs. I also turn it downward some, so there is usually very little pressure on my loins. The only time I get really uncomfortable is if my jeans are too restrictive. It's better for your crotch to have a wide seat, especially if you're a man. I must use one of those seats to be really comfortable, because I carry a backpack full of books every time I leave the house. Those Hobson seats look nice, though. I might get one the next time I need a seat, if I remember. Ergo seats have edges that are way too much like square, cut off circulation, and you'll be on the sag truck after 20 miles. However, SportTourer (Yay!!) and WTB both have good seats, and the right seat makes you go much faster. Fit=power. Check aebike.com For a good stopgap relief, take a padded econo mountain saddle with gentle sloping sides and drill 1/2" holes every inch, in a stripe down the middle (on the bottom side). Now you can fish out foam until the "hotspots" are gone. |
