What is the cause for a 2 stroke Rgv 250cc road bike to not go into powerband in 4th, 5th and 6th gear? If you mean the bike does not achieve the required REVS under load but does in the lower gears, then you may need to check a few things. 1. What fuel oil mix are you running 2. Air Filter clean? 3. Carbon in the exhaust - is yours a powervalve model? 4. Powervalve incorrectly fitted or carbon buld up excessive 5. Timing, pickup air cap etc - you may find they have come loose. 6. Check Compression. Also how old is the Fuel, when were the Carby's last drained? If you mean the bike doesn't have the same rush in the higher gears then it may be the poor thing is getting a little tired and needs the motor rebuilt. I would start with a de coke (removing carbon deposits) and checking all is working as per the manual. Clean carbies and airfilter, put fresh fuel and new plugs in it and take it for a ride. Check the exhaust port and examine the piston for signs of scuffing or seized rings. It's probably due to seized rings or damage to the piston from overheating. Also, check your muffler and make sure it isn't plugged. This can cause the same problem. Im not familar with that particular bike but It sounds like it could be a power valve problem. This link roughly describes how it works: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2-stroke_po... or check to see if sprockets are worn also. mtc mechanic |
