How do you use down tube shifters on an older road bike?
When both levers are in the forward position, you're in the small chainring up front and the small cassette cog in the back. The left lever controls the front derailluer, pull it down and you'll get into the big ring in front, or a higher gear range. The right lever controls the back, pull it down and you'l go into larger cassette cogs, or lower gears.
If you're used to bar end or brake lever shifters, thedown tube style might take some getting used to. Try to avoid areas with a lot of traffic until you get the hang of it. |
