What do you need to drive a Quad bike on the road and how many cc do they go up too? a quad bike is considered a car in the eyes of the law, since it has 4 wheels In my state (Wisconsin) they are illegal to drive on the road, no matter what you do to them. I think you will find this to be the same in all states. If you are looking to use it for transportation, sell it and buy a car or a motorcycle. have a look on MYQUAD.CO.UK As far as I know you only need to hold a full car license to ride one however the bike needs to be fully type approved for british roads ( which will involve a test costing around 拢120) in order to register it, you then require tax and insurance and if needs be an MOT, pretty much all the same as trying to register a motorbike. As for size, I believe most use single pot 450 motocross engines but you may be able to get larger ones. A quad bike. A driver. And some biggggg muscles. You need to move to Europe. I dont think its possible to make quads street legal in USA Polaris do road legal quads up to 800cc(!) but in my opinion they are overkill as i tested one on the road and there is just no way you can keep the front end down when pulling away a little heavily! as for legal wise you dont mention whether you have a provisional licence or full car licence, if you have a provisional as long as the quad is under 550kg you can ride whatever size you want on that licence providing you have a plate on it and an L plate and you dont have to wear a helmet either although it is what i would recommend if you have a full car licence i think you can pretty much ride what quad you like providing it has MOT, Tax and insurance! I've been looking into it as I'm getting one in a few weeks too :D |
