College student buying bike? |
hey guys. I'm a college student looking for a bike. It's come down to these two. Help me make the decision. GMC Denali Road Bike($150 - $170) Columbia Silver Ridge Bike: ($150). Both are on amazon. I'll be riding maybe 3-5 miles on weekdays and 10-15 miles on weekends. If you need a good low price bike go to yard sales, ask bike stores if they sell used bikes, look on craigs list, go to thrift stores. There are many used bikes out there for less than $100. Also don't buy a bike without trying it out. Some of the cheap bikes are constructed in a way that I don't think anybody can be comfortable on it, ever. I have bought twice a bike from of those walmart stores in the past, and wasn't happy with either. Now I'd never consider a bike from there. I like the 80s road bikes. My favorite I had was a peugeot, so I can recommend that. sorry, but both bikes are mass produced junk and will cost more to fix than the purchase price spend a little more on something more durable go to your local bike shops, check out Giant, Specialized, KHS, and Trek http://www.specialized.com I am with the previous comments. I ride a much more expensive road bike, but my wife and dad have both bought inexpensive bikes from a bike shop. It may cost you 50-100 more, but it is worth it!! Never, ever buy a bike on line. If it does not fit right you will never want to ride it 10-15 miles, or 2-3 for that matter. A bike shop will fit you on a bike no matter how inexpensive the bike is. listen to these guys, there right |
