Bike fitting!!? |
I am about to purchase a road bike on the internet. But I need to know what spec I need to order. I weight 240 pds and I am 5' 10"!! Hmm im not sure what else youw ould need to know! Pls what CM is the right for me? generally, it is best to get fitted at a shop, as with all the unique geometries out there, all bikes fit differently. As a guess I would say 56cm by height alone. The most important measurement if you are not going to be fitted is the inseam of your leg. the proper measurement for people under 6' is usually 0.67 x inseam (cm) = ______ There is usually more to it than that though. Here is a good website that will give you all you need to know about more than just frame size. http://www.cbss.ca/Custom.htm or http://www.coloradocyclist.com/bikefit/i... Source(s): work in a bike shop You need to know how the bike fits you from seat to pedals and seat to handlebars. Ask your seller if they will help fit you. You probably need something close to 55-56cm. I would go to a bike shop to make sure. I recently bought a bike on eBay knowing my "standard" size. After I got the bike I went to a bike shop to get fitted and only needed fine adjustments which included a longer handlebar stem. At 5'10", a 57 to 58 cm frame would probably be your size. Fitting consists of measurements to your inseam (frame height- usually the length of the seatpost tube down to the bottom bracket), torso (the length of your top tube, saddle position, stem length and handlebar angle), and shoulder width (handlebar width). If you have shorter legs, you may need a 56 cm frame as well. Lance is an example of longer legs. He's 5'10" and he rides a 58 cm frame. Anyway, at 240 lbs, you'll want a wheelset like the Mavic Open Pro 32 or 36 spoke. Any wheel less than 32 spokes isn't going to last very long at 240 lbs. |
