What do you recommend for numbness in the genital area while riding bike? |
my husband is complaining of numbness while riding his bicyle. Are there seats that are recommended for road biking or and advice to minimize this discomfort. Not necessarily in this order: I'm assuming that he wears bike shorts? Right? If not, get some, they are designed to reduce friction, there are no seams where ahem seams should not be and of course they are lightly padded. Has he had the bike fit to him? Many people buy bikes online and unless you know a LOT the bike will be entirely the wrong size. If you go to a shop that does a good job of fitting, they can make adjustments. If you had the bike fit to him at a shop either go back .... or find another local shop. Small adjustments even leveling the saddle or having the nose of the saddle slightly down, seat post may be too far out .... or even too short. Have the bike fit done by a pro, nothing should hurt on a ride. Lastly everyone has saddles they hate...and saddles they love. So if he's properly fit and equipped (bike's been fit and he's wearing bike shorts) and still hurts ... try different saddles. 5 times California AIDS Lifecycle Rider, SF to LA .... nothing hurts. Source(s): www.bikejournal.com "numbness in the genital area" thank you for my daily laugh. Um, get a better seat. My good friend is a cyclist, and he had a custom made seat, he says it helps Yeah a better seat. You can also get bike shorts which have extra padding in that area. Just thought you would like to know. That has been known to cause sterility in men. Yes there are better seats. well try to tell him the new seat and try lose fitting clothes its hard to say maybe he is rideing to much or ask a doctor for advice good luck |
