Web site that helps tune a racing bike!? |
anyone know of any web sites that show or tell you how to tune the gears, fix the brakes etc of road bikes? Try this website: http://www.parktool.com/repair/byregion.... I believe it may be only mountain bikes but many of the repair issues are the same so you should be able to find just about anything on there. They even break it down by area of your bike. It has helped me numerous times and is the best fix it site online. Good Luck! Source(s): parktools.com How to tune a bike? Best tip is to keep the tyres up to pressure (up to 100psi for some bikes, and the drive train clean (chain and cogs), and the gear shift is smooth After that make sure that the wheels spin freely and dont have too much friction on the bearings and catch the brakes - both will slow you down or make you use more energy. Tuning the brakes is sort of easy - they have adjusting screws that move the brake pads further towards or away from the rim and altering these will give you the stopping power needed but wont run on the rim. I would try these things before you start looking at altering the gears - you need to remove the cogs and replace them to do that and that requires (relativly inexpensive) specialist tools - perhaps a bike shop will do it for you if you tell them what you want from the gears. Lots of good websites out there, a book is better but better still is fiddling with the bike to set it up and that way when you are out on the road andif it breaks then you know how to fix it!
