What is better for an adult and 2 kids on surface roads- motorized bike w/ trailor or motorcycle w/sidecar?

I live in Hawaii and live close to work and have 2 boys (11 and 5) that has school nearby. And want an alternative to using a car. Speed limit isnt more then 30MPH so there is no point in using speed. I am looking at using a motorized bike with a trailor or motorcycle. Safety and laws come into play.

I can't believe someone will actually want to take 2 children on a motorcycle, either in a sidecar or a trailer.Unless of course they are not your children. I suppose the sidecar would be safer only because you can see the kids by glancing to the right. Using a trailer on a public road is just asking for trouble. Its okay for an idiot to put a trailer on the back of a bicycle with a kid in it, this makes sense because chances are the kid in the trailer will absorb most of the impact when rear ended by a car.
Motorcycles are too dangerous for children, use your head !

I would check with Hawaii DOT. I wouldn't think putting children in a small trailer behind a motorbike would be legal. In CA, they aren't allowed to be in a trailer pulled by a car, let alone a motorcycle. A sidecar would be your best bet but it might be a little crowded with boys that age. You don't mention how far you have to drive. It might not be worth the hassle.
